"We are the championship!"

The title of this post was stated by Jun Limpot, on winning his first championship with La Salle (circa 1990s). Maybe he said it while in a sheer state of ecstasy. They won the championship, what could be better? But saying it to a reporter? Hmmm, embarrassing.

My reply? "Naks, talaga? Sinong MVP award?"

Here are some more quotable quotes from PBA personalities.

"Congratulations to my teammates! I would also like to thank my parents, especially my mother and my father." - Johnny Abarrientos

"Patay na ba?"
(Live life to the fullest) - Robert Jaworski to Allan Caidic

"Well Joe, the ball is around." - Atoy Co

"Ok? Alright? .... Ok? Alright?" - Tim Cone (sometimes i hear it as "aight?")

"OK this is our play. Jerry inbound the ball. Glenn make a screen. Cap(Alvin) get the ball. Then Cap ikaw na bahala." -- Chot Reyes, during a time-out. Si Cap na ba ang coach?

"What is the time?!!" - Mark Telan, imitating the Chicago Bulls cheer ("What time is it?"). teammate Don Allado almost died laughing.

"Patay ang butiki!" -- Chino Trinidad, when a player hits the side of the backboard when attempting to take a shot. I'd die laughing if he'd say that when LA Tenorio gets fouled.

"Ikaw na ang maging Danny Seigle!" - Noli Eala

"Wag mong dikitan yan, baka mangitim ka." - Yeng Guiao to Arwind Santos, when the Burger King main man tangled with San Miguel import Gabe Freeman. So racist, coach Yeng.

"Akala siguro ni Helterbrand na binibigyang-puntos ang maraming dribble sa basketball. Yan ang wag na wag nyong tutularan mga kabataan nating basketball players sa Pilipinas." - Chino Trinidad

"You don’t lean to much on history because its history, precisely.” – Joe Cantada

"Eto ang sayo, butata ka, welcome to the PBA." - Noli Eala to Rommel Aduccul

"Lay-up...NO!!!. Follow-up...NO!!!. Scamble...YES!!!" -- Sev Sarmenta, covering the RP Team vs PBA All-Stars game

and my personal favorite..

"Last twoooo minutes!" - PBA official announcer, every last two minutes of a game

So, that's all for now. Let's just wish that the Tropang Texters would be the championship again.
